PERBANDINGAN KESESUAIAN LAHAN (SIFAT KIMIA TANAH) BUDIDAYA TANAMAN TEBU (Saccharum officinarum L) PADA LOKASI BERBEDA
Sugar cane is one of the national plantation crop commodities used as raw material for
making sugar. The condition of national sugar continues to experience a decline in production due
to decreased fertility and land suitability. Land suitability evaluation is one of the efforts to increase
sugarcane production. The purpose of this study was to determine the best soil chemical properties
comparison and land suitability class information between two different regions. This research was
carried out in the sugar cane area of Magelang, Central Java Province and Kulonrprogo, Special
Region of Yogyakarta. Data was collected by survey activities in the field and laboratory testing of
soil samples in two different regions. The observed variables are the content of Cation Exchange
Capacity (CEC), Organic Material, Soil pH, total Nitrogen, available Phosphore, and available
Potassium, the data were analyzed by regression correlation or matching test. The results showed
that the average comparison of soil chemical properties was better in Kulonprogo compared to
Magelang. While the land suitability class Vertisol in Kulonprogo and Inceptisol in Magelang there
is no difference with belonging to the S3 land class (Marginaly Suitable), with a limiting factor in
potassium classified in the S3 land class. Therefore, the land of Kulonprogo and Magelang areas is
suitable for sugarcane cultivation with the requirement to improve limiting factor of Potassium
according to the suitability requirements of the sugarcane land class
